NLIMIT Control Module
- Manufactured for the locomotive industrial environment using the latest technology.
- Includes a two slot box and one multifunction board.
- A second Input/Output board can be installed depending on application needs. This allows for a scalable system with inter-changeable modules.
- All boards are multi-layer utilizing EMI shielding.
- NLIMIT operating firmware is in-system programmable, allowing for easy field upgrades and maintenance.
- Standard Features
- Reduced engine fuel consumption - resulting in significant fuel savings, by shutting down and restarting the locomotive engine during appropriate idle periods.
- Integrated recording function - records certain locomotive statistics, events, and alarm logs.
- System indicator lights & Sirens - indicates the status of the system.
- Operator-Initiated Self Test Mode - allows verification of system operation.
- Alarm & diagnostic package – monitors the health of system.
- Automatic ground relay reset – monitors and resets main generator ground relays automatically.
- Load shedding - automatically turns off the locomotive headlights after a preset period elapses. Load Shedding eliminates repeated, and unnecessary, locomotive restarts.
- Low/high idle - monitors water and ambient temperatures, reduces idling costs in above freezing temperatures, and maintains engine operating temperature during colder periods.
- Optional Features
- Fan control - monitors water temperature and activates the cooling fans at specified temperatures, while cycling through the fans to share fan operation.
- Locomotive kilowatt-hour logs/records - These statistics are then used to compare locomotive maintenance costs against locomotive working time.
- Locomotive speed and distance - provides travel statistics.
- Hot traction motor protection –protection from running traction motors in excessive short term ratings causing traction motor reliability issues.
- crew alert vigilance – promotes safer train operations by monitoring the activity of the train controls while the locomotive is being operated.
